A fresh start for 8 Ball Conversions blogs
Firstly, I’d like to start by introducing myself. I am Izzy Almond the daughter of one of the directors of 8 Ball Camper Conversions (Colin Almond), I am their new blogger and will be writing fun monthly blogs about everything camper van related; from 8 Ball Camper updates to interesting camper van topics and trips. I have always wanted to delve into writing a bit more and starting this blog allows me to branch out and do something different, allowing me to share my knowledge and experience with others using this platform.
I recently graduated from Leeds Arts University, where I studied Graphic Design for three years, learning about the field and building my professional and personal skills. I’ve always been drawn to everything creative, and when I’m not working on graphic design, I like to do quirky illustrations for fun. I am also a passionate skateboarder; over the last few years I have found so much enjoyment and happiness through skateboarding. I have been on many 8 Ball Camper skate and surfing trips with friends and family. Post Covid it seemed easier and safer to travel locally and enjoy camper van staycations rather than riskily travelling abroad.
I have been around camper vans my whole life, travelling around Europe with my family, exploring new places from the perspective of a camper van. There is something wholesome and down to earth about being able to travel in a camper van rather than bouncing from hotel to hotel, it allows you to see more, to embrace the journey rather than just the destination, and if you have experienced travelling in a camper van you will understand what I mean completely.
Recently, I have been doing more creative work for 8 Ball Camper Conversions, for example; my most recent project with 8 Ball Camper Conversions was a commission to graffiti my graphics on their new lime green forklift. It was a fantastic opportunity to work on a large scale with my art and acquire experience doing something I wouldn’t normally do, as my art has typically been on a smaller scale e.g. selling prints, cards and stickers. Combining my passion for camper vans and illustration was a fantastic opportunity; it was something I have always wanted to do, and the result looks very cool. There will be more exciting collaborations with myself and 8 Ball Camper Conversions to come…
